How to actually prepare
Buy or borrow the current official revision material and work the question bank in passes: first pass reading, second pass answering, third pass only the ones you got wrong. Sit full-length mock tests under time pressure until you pass them comfortably every time — consistency, not one lucky run. Most people who fail simply under-prepared for a test they assumed was common sense; the road-sign and stopping-distance questions punish that assumption.
Test day and after
Bring the identification the booking specifies, arrive early, and read each question fully — the wrong answers are written to catch skimmers. Your pass certificate then has a validity window within which you must apply for your learner permit, so do not sit on it: apply to the NDLS promptly and start the EDT clock. If you fail, the result sheet shows the categories that cost you — that is your study plan for the resit.
