Escargo
Privacy
Effective 27 July 2026 · Written plainly, because you should not need a lawyer to know what happens to your data.
What we collect
- Your account — email address and a password (or Google sign-in). Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never visible to Escargo staff.
- What you save — vehicles you add (registration, renewal dates you record), providers you save, and reviews you write after a completed job.
- What you book — service requests, bookings, quotes and roadside requests you make, including the contact details you enter so the provider can reach you.
- Location, only when you share it — the map and Nearby features use your location only after you explicitly tap “Use my location” or type a town. We do not track your location in the background.
- Problem reports — road reports or place corrections you submit.
What we use it for
- Running your bookings and requests, and letting the provider you chose contact you about them.
- Showing you nearby places and routes when you ask for them.
- Keeping your vehicle history where you can see it.
- Keeping the platform safe — for example verifying that a review comes from a completed job.
We do not sell your data and we do not run advertising trackers. The only data in your browser’s storage is what signs you in and your own preferences.
Who processes it for us
- Supabase — hosts our database and sign-in.
- Stripe — processes payments. Your card details go to Stripe, never to Escargo’s servers.
- Google Maps Platform — answers place, route and map requests. These requests go through Escargo’s servers; Google’s results are shown to you with attribution and are not merged into your personal records.
- OpenStreetMap — provides map tiles on some pages.
- Netlify — hosts this website.
Who can see what
- A provider sees the details of your request to them — never your whole history.
- Your vehicle passport is visible to you. A garage’s internal workshop notes are not shown to other businesses.
- Escargo staff access data only when needed to run or fix the service.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, and you can close your account. Email hello@escargo.co.uk and we will handle it. If you believe we have not, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission (Ireland).
Questions about this page: hello@escargo.co.uk. If this policy changes materially we will say so here, with the date above updated.
